League of Women Voters Program on LCFF

The way public education in California is funded changed dramatically as a result of the Local Control Funding Formula, which was signed into law in 2013 by Governor Brown.  The goal was to send additional funding to districts like Oakland, where the needs are greatest.  For the first time, parents, students and teachers must be included in decision making about how new funds are spent.  Come hear Ruth Alahydoian, OUSD's new Chief Financial Officer, speak on how the district developed local priorities for the coming school year.
