Words that Win for Public Education

People disagree about exactly how to ensure a quality public education for every child, but most of us know that if we don’t win hearts and minds about the critical role public schools play, we will never receive the resources and respect we need to implement any of our desired improvements.

If you believe in and want to support public schools that are inclusive of all of Oakland’s children, where parent voices matter, please join us for a values-based conversation about education.

For too long, privatizers have pushed their message of treating schools as profit centers for technology companies, children as all having the same needs, standardized testing as the only way to evaluate learning and teachers and closing public schools as a solution to what ails our schools.

If you believe that this is the wrong approach, please attend to learn more about how to speak effectively about what we believe.

In this short session, we will discuss how to talk about our values around education in a compelling way that builds support for public education, using tested messages from public school advocates.

We are lucky to have cognitive linguist Anat Shenker Osorio join us for this conversation, presenting on tested, effective messages for pushing back against the privatization agenda for public schools. Learn more about Anat by visiting http://www.asocommunications.com
